How written and oral answers are assessed

Every plan has written and oral questions, and every plan measures answers against the same criteria from Skolverket. The difference is who does the comparing.

Basic and Standard: compare it yourself

Comparing your own answer with good examples is one of the best ways to learn what a strong answer looks like – and it is how students meet the criteria at school. Every written and oral question comes with the material to do it well.

Written answers

  1. Solve on paper, with hints if you need them.
  2. Press "I have solved it on paper". You then see model answers at three levels (E, C, A), or a strong and an almost-right solution with what is missing.
  3. Tick a checklist built from the question's key points: what does your answer have?
  4. Choose your own level. It is saved, and parents see it according to the sharing setting.

Oral answers

  1. Talk about the question with a parent, a friend or a sibling.
  2. The listener gets ready-made follow-up questions and a "For the listener" checklist – no subject knowledge needed.
  3. Then compare with the model answers and choose your level, as for written answers.

Talking it through at home also trains the oral part of school assessment.

Standard Plus: AI feedback

Everything above, plus an assessment of the answer itself: what is good, what is missing and why, and one next step – within seconds.

What is different from asking a general AI chat

General AI chatNorriteo Standard Plus
Measured againstWhatever the chat thinks is goodThe question's own key points and Skolverket's criteria for Grade 6 or Grade 9 (Lgr22)
Spelling, handwriting, accentOften mixed into the verdictNever change the assessment – like on the national tests
Long answersOften look betterLength and repeating the question count for nothing
What you getA finished answer to copyYour own words, marked: what is good, what is missing and why, one next step
Same answer twiceCan give a different verdictSame rules, same card, same follow-up question
Your child's dataDepends on the serviceNo name or school is sent. Photos are deleted after 7 days, recordings right after the assessment

Written answers

  1. Solve on paper and take a photo – or type the answer straight in.
  2. The photo is read word for word. Spelling is never corrected or counted.
  3. Within seconds a feedback card appears under the answer, with the same fields every time.
  4. Improve and send again. Earlier tries are saved in My answers.

Oral answers – with a follow-up question

  1. Listen to the question and answer out loud (up to 3 minutes).
  2. Check the written-out text of what you said and fix words the machine misheard. The recording is then deleted.
  3. Like a teacher, the coach asks ONE follow-up question aimed at what is still missing – it never tells you whether you were right.
  4. Answer it (up to 1 minute). Then you get your whole answer as a marked text, plus the same feedback card as for written answers.

Under 13: oral questions are answered in writing (no recording).

Example: a written answer

A real question from Chemistry, Grade 4–6. The answer is made up to show how it works.

Question: Explain what happens to the water when a wet swimsuit dries and when glasses steam up when someone comes in from the cold. Feel free to say what the particles do.

avdunstar(used correctly)vattenånga(missing)kondenserar(unclear)partiklar(missing)

Example "Vattnet avdunstar och blir osynlig vattenånga i luften."

6 · Stavning

dom → dem · Stavning påverkar inte bedömningen i NO/SO.

7 · Nästa steg

Förklara vad partiklarna gör när vattnet avdunstar.

8 · Modellsvar

The question's reviewed model answers, next level open (shown in the classroom).

The card is in Swedish, the language the answer was written in. With the site in English, an English translation is shown below it.

Example: an oral answer with a follow-up question

A real question from History, Grade 4–6. What the student says is made up to show how it works.

Question: If you were Norwegian in 1814 – would you be satisfied or dissatisfied with the union? Why?

Example "De fick behålla sin grundlag, men å andra sidan …"

The follow-up question is chosen by fixed rules from questions written in advance, so the same answer always gets the same question.

Good to know

  • Included in Standard Plus: up to 100 written and 30 oral assessments per student per week (Monday–Sunday). The remaining number is shown next to the button.
  • An assessment covers one question. It is never a grade and never a prediction of a grade.
  • Parents see the answers and feedback according to the sharing setting; for children under 13 they see everything.
  • Basic and Standard have the same questions with model answers and a checklist for self-assessment (Basic: maths only).
